According to Greg Carbin, the WCM at the Storm Prediction Center, this is the first tornado watch in the history of the state of Utah. That’s amazing!

I am in Tucson, Arizona, at the National Weather Association meeting. Yesterday, we had a couple of rounds of severe thunderstorms. Then, as if on cue, when we headed out to dinner, a severe thunderstorm struck, complete with one inch hail, blinding rains and winds blowing horizontally. Rainfall amounts were only about 0.25-0.35 inches, but this area doesn’t handle rain well and streets became raging rivers. A wind gust to 84 mph was measured on top of a building at the University of Arizona.

This morning, a tornado struck an RV park near Flagstaff, in northern Arizona. There were seven injuries.
