Alabama Update–10:25 pm
First, another hail report. It happened this afternoon at Pinson in NE Jefferson County. At 4:45 pm hail 1/2 inch in diameter was reported by the public.
The more solid line of showers and thunderstorms that moved from Mississippi into West Alabama earlier this evening has undergone some changes, Roughly the south half of the line broke away and picked up forward speed. So at 10 tonight, it looks like this:
The more solid line extends along the Shelby/Talladega County line southwestward across SE Chilton County to west of Selma into Wilcox County. Some of the stronger storms will be moving across the Montgomery County later. The line features some heavy showers and quite a bit of lightning.
However, as a whole, the shower and thunderstorm picture for Alabama has diminished. To our west, almost all of the showers and storms have moved east out of Mississippi. The main storms are now across South Alabama.
The NWS issued another Significant Weather Advisory valid until 11 pm, for these counties:
South Elmore
Southeast Autauga
Montgomery
North Lowdnes
Look for brighter weather tomorrow.
Since orders for rain have been very numerous lately, we will likely post a list of rain amounts tomorrow morning.
