Showers/Sleet Over Northeast Alabama

| November 5, 2010 @ 11:23 am | 7 Replies

It is a blustery day across Alabama with temperatures in the 40s late this morning… Note the radar from Hytop below…

Very cold air aloft associated with the upper trough over the Deep South has resulted in sufficient instability for a few showers over Northeast Alabama. The NWS Huntsville has reported sleet mixed with the rain as a shower passed over their location within the hour, and similar reports are very possible for the rest of the afternoon. We also could hear of a few snow flakes up on Sand and Lookout Mountains over Northeast Alabama, mainly above 1,200 feet.

Showers will end this evening, and a freeze is likely early tomorrow. Scroll down for the morning forecast discussion, and see the Weather Xtreme video on the right sidebar of the blog.
