INTO THE 70s AGAIN: Generally speaking temperatures remain well below guidance this morning, with many places in the mid to upper 30s (MOS had suggested lows in the low to mid 40s this morning). A number of communities will see a 40 degree rise today from morning low to afternoon high; most places will wind up in the mid to upper 70s with a bright sunny sky.

TOMORROW THROUGH THE WEEKEND: Tomorrow will be another sunny day with a high in the mid 70s, and Saturday won’t be much different with sunshine through scattered clouds and a high near 70. A weakening cold front might squeeze out a few isolated showers late Saturday night or Sunday, but we don’t see any really widespread rain.

FOOTBALL WEATHER: This week we have a Thursday night special; tonight UAB will host East Carolina at Legion Field at 7:00… the sky will be clear with temperatures falling from near 60 at kickoff to near 50 by the end of the game.

For tomorrow night’s high school playoff football games, we project a clear sky, with temperatures falling from near 62 at kickoff into the low 50s by the fourth quarter.

For Saturday’s Auburn/Georgia game at Jordan-Hare Stadium (2:30 p.m. CST kickoff)… the sky will be partly sunny with a temperature in the upper 60s at kickoff, falling into the upper 50s by the final whistle. Alabama will host Mississippi State Saturday night in Tuscaloosa (6:15 p.m. kickoff)… clouds will increase during the game, but there will be only a small risk of a shower. Temperatures will fall from the low 60s at kickoff into the mid 50s by the fourth quarter.

NEXT WEEK: Rain will become widespread across Alabama Monday and Monday night as the main upper trough approaches; we are still optimistic that a number of cities will see one inch of rain. There might be some thunder, but a stable airmass means no severe weather. The rain will end early Tuesday, with dry weather for the latter half of the week with seasonal temperatures.

LONG RANGE/VOODOO LAND: Hard to believe Thanksgiving is almost here. Very cold air will build over Canada, but the latest operational global model runs show an upper air pattern that will keep it bottled up to the north, with a rather benign weather pattern for the Deep South. No extremely cold air shots, no severe weather risks. See the Weather Xtreme video for details.

STORM ALERT XTREME: Our annual storm spotter training is coming up Saturday at the BJCC, as part of the Alabama International Auto show. We begin at 9:00, and you will be done at 2:00. And, as a “thank you”, you will get free admission into the car show. There is no cost, and no need to register, just show up. Brian Peters will be the trainer, and we ask all existing and potential Skywatchers to attend. See you there!

WEATHER BRAINS: Don’t forget you can listen to our weekly 30 minute netcast anytime on the web, or on iTunes. This is the show all about weather featuring many familiar voices, including our meteorologists here at ABC 33/40.
