THIS EVENING: The clearing process will continue, and all of Alabama should be cloud-free by 8:00. Most places will drop into the upper 30s by daybreak tomorrow.
TOMORROW THROUGH SUNDAY: Fantastic weather, with sunny mild days and clear cool nights. The high tomorrow will be in the upper 60s, followed by a high around 70 on Saturday and Sunday. Just about as nice as it gets in November.
FOOTBALL WEATHER: For tonight’s Alabama/Georgia State game at Bryant Denny Stadium in Tuscaloosa (6:30 p.m. kickoff), the sky will be clear with temperatures falling from near 55 at kickoff to near 45 by the final whistle. A similar situation tomorrow night for the high school playoff games, with temperatures reaching the 40s during the second half of the games. The sky will be clear.
Saturday, UAB hosts Memphis at Legion Field with a 3:00 kickoff; the sky will be sunny with a temperature near 70 at kickoff, dropping to near 60 by the end of the game. Samford hosts The Citadel at 1:00 Saturday; lots of sunshine with temperatures in the 67 to 70 degree range during the game. Jacksonville State will be in Cookville, Tennessee Saturday to take on Tennessee Tech (4:00 kickoff)… the sky will be clear with temperatures falling from near 65 at kickoff to around 52 by the end of the game.
THANKSGIVING WEEK: Not much change in the overall thinking. Dry and mild weather is likely Monday and Tuesday with a high in the low to mid 70s (just an outside risk of a shower Tuesday afternoon). Showers and a few storms are likely Wednesday into Wednesday night, possibly lasting into Thanksgiving Day. We note the last two GFS runs have moved the rain out of the state early Thursday morning, with breezy and colder weather for Thanksgiving Day. For the following day, Black Friday and the day of the Iron Bowl, the weather looks dry but rather chilly. A little too early to be specific about temperatures, but we might have a hard time getting out of the 40s.
LONG RANGE: We continue to watch with interest the idea of a big AO/NAO negative spike at the end of November, which could very open the door for some very cold air for the eastern third of the nation and the Deep South by then. See the Weather Xtreme video for details.
WEATHER BRAINS: Don’t forget you can listen to our weekly 30 minute netcast anytime on the web, or on iTunes. This is the show all about weather featuring many familiar voices, including our meteorologists here at ABC 33/40.
