Alabama This Evening–9 pm Report

Low clouds and poor visibility beginning to settle in across parts of Alabama this evening. Hourly observations from the airports reveal this:

Birmingham…overcast at 400 feet
Alexander City…visibility 3/4 mile fog and ceiling only 100 feet
Montgomery/Dannelly Field…light drizzle, visibility down to 1/4 mile

I just took a walk in NE Trussville and low clouds are at tree-top level of some of the taller trees. And some ground fog is forming.

Might be a good idea to allow some extra driving time if you waiting until Thanksgiving morning to drive to see friends and relatives.

The much colder air is still well to our north. Current temperatures are 70 in the Memphis area contrasting to low and mid 20s as far south as North Kansas. Colder air will reach Alabama late tomorrow night and Friday.
