**We are on a holiday schedule… I will produce one Weather Xtreme video a little later today… below is the forecast discussion from our seven day page.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING: Let’s all make this a day when we focus on the positive and realize the blessings we enjoy. I am thankful for many things, including the opportunity to work in the weather business. I have been living the dream for many years.

THE ALABAMA WEATHER SITUATION: We are forecasting a high of 75 degrees today, which is 14 degrees above average, and within three degrees of the record high for November 25, 78 set way back in 1921. The day will feature a mix of sun and clouds along with a gusty south wind. A shower could pop up in a few spots, but most communities will stay dry during the day.

TO THE NORTH: A strong cold front continues to move slowly in our direction. This front set off a batch of strong to severe storms last night over parts of Northeast Oklahoma and South Missouri, and will bring a line of showers and thunderstorms into our state late tonight. The good news is that we don’t expect any major severe weather issues here, although a strong storm or two is certainly possible.

FRIDAY CHILL: Much colder air will drift down into Alabama tomorrow. Temperatures will drop down into the mid 40s and pretty much hold there all day. Rain will continue during the morning, but should be pretty much over by midday, with clearing beginning in far Northwest Alabama by afternoon. A strong northwest wind of 12-22 mph will make the mid 40s feel even colder.

IRON BOWL: The biggest college football game of the year in our state will kick off tomorrow at 1:30 p.m. at Bryant-Denny Stadium in Tuscaloosa. Confidence continues to grow that the rain will be over by the time the game begins. We are projecting cloudy and cold weather during the game, with the temperature dropping from near 47 at kickoff to around 43 by the end of the game. A gusty north wind will average 12-22 miles per hour.

REST OF THE HOLIDAY WEEKEND: The coldest morning will come early Saturday, when temperatures will reach the mid 20s. The rest of the weekend will feature a warming trend, with highs in the upper 50s Saturday followed by low 60s Sunday. Dry air means a good supply of sunshine both days.

NEXT WEEK: A vigorous weather system will bring the next chance of rain and storms to the state Monday night and Tuesday, followed by drier and colder air on Wednesday.

WEATHER BRAINS: Don’t forget you can listen to our weekly 30 minute netcast anytime on the web, or on iTunes. This is the show all about weather featuring many familiar voices, including our meteorologists here at ABC 33/40.
