Central Alabama is waking up to one of the coldest mornings of the Fall season so far, but it should moderate fairly quickly before the next blast arrives which could be even colder yet.

The front which brought the rain yesterday and much colder air overnight has left the continental US and was located well out in the Atlantic stretching across Central Florida into the Central Gulf of Mexico. The surface high will migrate eastward over the next couple of days allowing the Southeast US to moderate fairly quickly. We should verge on the 60-degree mark by Sunday and Monday. However, the next system is coming at us quickly. Breezy conditions are expected Monday, too, as the wind comes around to the south or southeast at 10 to 20 mph.

A deep trough coming in on the West Coast and should begin to impact us by late Monday. It looks like the first half of Monday should be dry with rain chances increasing by afternoon. The main time period for the rain should come after dark on Monday extending through noon – perhaps early afternoon – on Tuesday. Rainfall amounts should be between one half and one inch as this system moves through quickly. While the rain exits the area on Tuesday afternoon, clouds may stick around into Wednesday. And Wednesday is likely to be a very chilly day with the high not expected to climb out of the 40s. Because the air is moderating, our lows may not be too bad by I do expect to see them fall well into the 20s.

The end of the week sees a gradual moderation once again with a ridge moving over us and the dry weather continuing. But the overall pattern well out into voodoo country remains pretty progressive with a continued streak of weather systems moving by every few days. In fact, the one which might impact us around the 7th of December could be one that has some winter weather for a portion of the Southeast US. This is too far out to be specific and will likely change, but it appears possible for the Mid-South – as in Arkansas and West Tennessee – to have a winter weather event. Another round of wet weather seems likely around the 11th.

Quite a game yesterday! My big game comes today when Florida State and Florida meet. Go Noles!!! Like the Auburn-Alabama match up, this game has a great deal of emotion going with it, so anything can happen. Thanks for staying tuned to the Weather Xtreme Video.
