Very Nice Autumn Weekend….

An all new edition of the ABC 33/40 Weather Xtreme video is available in the player below, and on iTunes…

EASY FORECAST: The dry air will stay in place through early next week with sunny warm days, clear cool nights, and low humidity values. Lows will be in the 50s, and highs in the 80s tomorrow and Sunday. No real change through Monday through Wednesday of next week, although nights will be gradually warmer.

FOOTBALL WEATHER: Could not be nicer for high school football tonight. Most schools have a 7:00 p.m. kick off. The temperature should be in the 70s at that time and in the upper 60s by the final whistle. Clear and dry. In college ball, Alabama is in Jacksonville to play Florida State tomorrow with a 4:00 p.m. kick off. Only a slight chance of a shower during the game with 82 degrees at kick off lowering into the 70s. There will be a brisk NE wind. Also in Florida, Auburn plays the University of Florida at Gainesville starting at 7:00 p.m. There just a slight chance of a shower or thunderstorm in the area with 84 at kick off. UAB plays Tulsa in Tulsa with a 6:00 p.m. kick off. Clear and dry with a gusty south wind. 85 at kick off, but near 70 by the end of the game. (thanks to J.B. for the football forecast… this comes from his afternoon forecast package on the seven day page).

LONG RANGE: The 12Z GFS run continues the trend toward dry weather for the end of next week and the following weekend… if the model is correct we will be dry here in Alabama for the next 10 days. Not good for a state that remains in a serious drought… the rain deficit will only grow larger in coming days.

TROPICS: Lorenzo is inland and in the process of dissipating… so we will be watching Tropical Storm Karen over the next week or so. Karen is fighting some fierce wind shear, and it will have a hard time surviving over the weekend. But, if the thing can hang on, conditions will improve and it could become a well organized tropical system again during the latter half of next week, and ridging to the north of the system will force it back to the west, in the general direction of the Bahamas and Florida. Lets don’t write this one off yet.

WEATHER BRAINS: Don’t forget you can listen to our weekly 30 minute netcast anytime on the web, or on iTunes. This is the show all about weather featuring many familiar voices, including our meteorologists here at ABC 33/40. You can even listen here on the blog; look for the player on the top left.

WEATHER PARTY: Get all the latest weather news over on our sister site, WeatherParty.com. Be sure and register while you are there; you can submit stories and vote on them to determine what is published on the front page. This is a great way to find the latest weather-related news stories.

I sure had a great time today seeing all of the third graders at Bluff Park Elementary in Hoover… be watching for them on the KIDCAM today on ABC 33/40 News at 5:00… Brian Peters will have the Weather Xtreme video updates here over the weekend; my next video will be posted bright and early Monday morning at 7:00. Have a wonderful weekend!
