An all new edition of the ABC 33/40 Weather Xtreme Video is available in the player below and on iTunes.

Dry is not really what we want, but Fall and the rapidly approaching month of October tend to be dry. And a low himidity, cool morning start type of day is in store for Central Alabama today and tomorrow. This is the kind of weekend we’d like to see often. I have to admit, though, that I would also like to see those afternoon highs come down a bit since it looks like we will be staying in the 80s.

Humidity values will be way down today as drier air settles into the area. Dew points were in the 40s and 50s this morning, so it will be a very refreshing start to the day with temperatures also in the 50s.

Dry is the forecast for the next seven days with a surface high and an upper ridge. These along with a storm track well north of Alabama translates into a nice week with low temperatures gradually creeping upward with highs remaining above typical values for this time of year in the 80s.

So it looks like an easy forecast for the next week or so. And the tropics remain active with Melissa on the scene now – but the scene is waaaay out in the eastern Atlantic. Karen looks ragged as she fights some pretty strong shear. Forecast tracks are now suggesting a more westward movement so while no immediate threat to the US, Karen will bear watching for those along the East Coast of the US.

Don’t forget you can listen to our weekly 30 minute netcast anytime on the web, or on iTunes. This is the show all about weather featuring many familiar voices, including our meteorologists here at ABC 33/40. You can even listen here on the blog; look for the player on the top left.

This afternoon I’ll be watching Northeast Florida along with a lot of other folks. But the difference is that I’ll be doing the tomahawk chop since I went to Florida State for my undergraduate work. I usually root for Alabama teams but in this case my loyalty falls to my alma mater. I think no matter which side you are cheering for, this is going to be a good game.

Busy this past week so the video has some pictures from my visits to the Quintard Mall Severe Weather Safety Day on Thursday and the Be Ready Day in Tuscaloosa on Friday. I hope you have a great weekend. God bless.
