Hole Punch Cloud

Thanks to Rob Fowler for these images and videos… he writes:

“James, I met you at the Wes Helms baseball clinic (outstanding testimony for the kids–and adults by the way). The other day (December 3) while driving to Atlanta with my son, we saw the strangest thing in the sky that I have ever seen. There were high level clouds with a very clear egg shaped place erased from them. This egg shaped hole stayed relatively empty for several minutes then clouds began to form in it. Then, it appeared that a horizontal vortex started forming in the egg. After about fifteen minutes the vortex shape extended out of the egg. I know you think I am crazy, but I have pictures and video. Any thoughts on what you think this is?

The first picture was taken after about 10 minutes. I will send the others in the order they were taken. There are a few short video clips.”

To answer Rob’s questions… that is a hole punch cloud. Read more about them here.
