An all new edition of the ABC 33/40 Weather Xtreme video is available in the player on the right sidebar of the blog. You can subscribe to the Weather Xtreme video on iTunes by clicking here.

THIS MORNING: Rain is still falling over the eastern third of Alabama early this morning, but that rain will be ending soon, and we expect gradual clearing later today as drier air slowly works into the state.

The sky becomes partly sunny by afternoon, and the day will be noticeably cooler with a high around 60. To the north, a deep upper low north of Nashville could keep clouds in place over the Tennessee Valley of extreme North Alabama much of the day. The sky becomes clear statewide late tonight, and most places will wind up in upper 30s, with a touch of frost possible for the colder valleys.

REST OF THE WEEK: A warming trend begins tomorrow afternoon as we rise into the mid to upper 60s, but the real warm-up takes place Thursday and Friday, when highs will rise into the 78-81 degree range. Dry air means a sunny sky each day.

THE WEEKEND: Warm is the word. Sure looks like highs will be close to 80 on Saturday and Sunday with a good supply of sunshine. A preview of summer… just about perfect for anything you want to do outdoors.

THE BEACH: The weather looks excellent on the Central Gulf Coast for the rest of the week and the weekend, with sunny pleasant days and clear nights. Highs on the immediate coast will be in the mid to upper 60s, with highs in the 77-80 degree range inland. The sea water temperature at the Dauphin Island Sea Lab this morning is 63 degrees, and limits how warm it can be along the immediate coastline.

NEXT WEEK: A cold front will bring the next chance of showers by Tuesday or Wednesday of next week (March 22-23), but the upper support will be far to the north and severe weather issues do not look likely.

VOODOO LAND: Still no sign of any seriously cold air into the Deep South for the rest of the month in the operational GFS runs, but we do note the NAO is forecast to spike into the negative zone as April begins, which could open the door for a late season cold snap in the 15-20 day time frame. We will see… watch the Weather Xtreme video for more long range ideas.
