An all new edition of the ABC 33/40 Weather Xtreme video is available in the player on the right sidebar of the blog. You can subscribe to the Weather Xtreme video on iTunes by clicking here.

INCREASING WARMTH AND HUMIDITY: While we are beginning this day with temperatures mostly in the 40s, the weather turns warm and muggy this week as air from the Gulf returns to the state. We stay dry today, with a good supply of sunshine and a high not too far from the 80 degree mark.

TOMORROW: Another major severe weather event is setting up tomorrow, but thankfully not here. SPC has defined a moderate risk of severe weather roughly from Little Rock to Indianapolis, with a large slight risk (their standard risk) surrounding that from Dallas to Buffalo. A few strong tornadoes will be possible in that moderate risk area, but here at home we will only mention an outside risk of an afternoon shower or thunderstorm. The day will be partly sunny, warm, and humid with a high in the mid 80s.

WEDNESDAY/THURSDAY: While we will mention a chance of showers and storms on these days, we do not expect any severe weather issues thanks an upper air ridge over the Gulf Coast, pushing the main dynamics well to the north. A weakening cold front will drift in here Thursday, but will return northward by Thursday night. Highs will be in the low 80s both days.

FRIDAY AND THE EASTER WEEKEND: Looks like the upper ridge wins the battle, meaning generally dry and warm weather on these three days. Partly sunny days, fair nights, with highs still up in the 80s. I guess a shower could pop up somewhere at some point, but for now the chance looks pretty small.

NEXT WEEK AND BEYOND: We might be dealing with a decent round of showers and storms one week from tomorrow (Tuesday April 26)… see the Weather Xtreme video for details.

WEATHER BRAINS: Don’t forget you can listen to our weekly 30 minute netcast anytime on the web, or on iTunes. This is the show all about weather featuring many familiar voices, including our meteorologists here at ABC 33/40. We will visit with Nate Johnson of WRAL in Raleigh as we discuss the recent major three day tornado outbreak.
