An area of showers is now moving east northeast and northeast across Central Alabama.

It has weakened over the past two hours, but has expanded a bit in areal extent.

It now covers parts of Pickens, Tuscaloosa, Sumter, Greene, Hale, Bibb, Marengo and Perry Counties. It is entering Perry and soon to enter Shelby Counties.

The showers may affect extreme southern Jefferson County, south of I-59 and I-459.

In Cuba, Alabama, near the Mississippi border in Sumter County, Fire Chief and ABC3340 Skywatcher Reid Vaughn reports it is thundering again. That storm is putting down a lot of lightning and is passing about 12-18 miles south of the Chief. It will pass south of Livingston and head generally toward Demopolis. Be alert for the dangerous lightning.

The other storm was near Greensboro in Hale County. It will move toward Brent/Centreville.
