Very Warm and Dry Easter Weekend

An all new edition of the ABC 33/40 Weather Xtreme video is available in the player on the right sidebar of the blog. You can subscribe to the Weather Xtreme video on iTunes by clicking here.

HIGHS WELL INTO THE 80s: The weather won’t change much over the weekend, dry and very warm with highs in the 84-88 degree range, not too far from record territory for late April in Alabama. You will see a few fair weather cumulus clouds each afternoon, but ridging aloft should keep it dry.

While we enjoy a dry weekend, unsettled weather continues from Texas to the Great Lakes, where several rounds of severe storms are possible. See the Weather Xtreme video for the SPC convective outlooks.

NEXT WEEK: Still looks like a significant severe weather event coming up for the southern U.S. The problems begin early in the week to the west; showers and storms could arrive in Alabama as early as Tuesday, but the main event seems to be Wednesday, and the 12Z GFS hints that all modes of severe weather will be possible; cellular supercell storms Wednesday afternoon, followed by a squall line with potential for damaging winds Wednesday night. And, heavy rain will be an issue as well. We will keep an eye on this over the weekend and have a detailed look by Monday.

We turn much cooler Thursday and Friday; looks like we won’t make it out of the 60s Thursday, with lows well down in the 40s early Friday morning. See the video for more long range ideas.

WEATHER BRAINS: Don’t forget you can listen to our weekly 90 minute netcast anytime on the web, or on iTunes. This is the show all about weather featuring many familiar voices, including our meteorologists here at ABC 33/40.
