Update on Clearing
Skies are now clearing rapidly across Alabama late this morning.
The clearing line has generally reached I-65.
The Birmingham Metro will become partly cloudy shortly, with scattered stratocumulus clouds. As of this writing, skies were already blue at Hamilton, Cullman and Tuscaloosa on the Skycam network.
Temperatures at 11 a.m. ranged from 37 at Haleyville to 39F at Muscle Shoals, Albertville and Cullman, to 42F at Tuscaloosa, Birmingham and Calera to 41F at Fort Payne and Gadsden to 43F at Anniston and 48F at Alex City.
Temperatures may rebound slightly with increasing sunshine, but readings will not make it out of the 40s.
Winds are slowly diminishing, still averaging 10-15 mph.
Look for a light freeze tonight with lows in the upper 20s.
The morning run of the GFS does keep us dry through Thursday, so that will represent a change in the afternoon package. But it does insist on an extended period of wet weather Thursday night into the weekend. That would be just what the doctor ordered.
