ALL IS CALM: A benign weather pattern will continue across Alabama for the foreseeable future with a day to day warming trend. We expect mostly sunny days and clear nights through the weekend; we reach the low 70s today, upper 70s tomorrow, and then the 80s over the weekend. The humidity will remain very low today with dewpoints in the 30s, but low level moisture levels will creep up over the weekend giving the air a more summer feel.

The weather looks great for the Regions Tradition PGA golf event at Shoal Creek this weekend; bring the sunscreen.

NEXT WEEK: The upper ridge is the story through much of the week, meaning continued dry conditions and rather hot afternoons. We will be very close to 90 by Tuesday and Wednesday with a good supply of sunshine. Some evidence a little light rain could return late in the week as the ridge breaks down and a deep upper trough forms over the eastern U.S., but nothing really serious. And, still no sign of any severe weather threat for Alabama for the next 15 days. See the Weather Xtreme video for more long range ideas.

HURRICANE SEASON: Yep… almost that time. The 2011 hurricane season begins June 1; the first named storm of the season will be Arlene.
