Scattered Storms Fire Up

**No afternoon Weather Xtreme video today due to travel**

RIGHT NOW: Scattered, slow moving summer storms have fired up across Alabama this afternoon, including the Birmingham metro area… see the radar below from 2:35 p.m..

The storms this afternoon won’t cover much territory, but where they have formed they will produce heavy rain and lots of lightning. Also a brief microburst is possible; small areas of high wind that could knock down trees and power lines. The showers and storms will end once the sun goes down later this evening.

WEEKEND OUTLOOK: Same ole routine… hot hazy days, fair nights, and scattered, mostly afternoon and evening showers and thunderstorms. Highs in the mid 90s.

NEXT WEEK: Some chance the coverage of the storms will be a litter higher next week as the ridge is suppressed a bit and the axis moves to the east, but the overall idea remains the same. Hot, hazy, humid, a few scattered afternoon storms. Highs mostly in the low to mid 90s.
