Update on the Molly Tragedy

This will probably be my last update until we can followup on getting the attack dog removed from the community.

I am off duty from weather duties today and Friday but I wanted to post a few notes. You will never know how much we appreciate the great outpouring of good-will messages on behalf of Little Miss Molly as well as my wife and I. Most uplifting. We needed that because today has been very difficult. Over 800 emails so far and dozens of Facebook notes.

The worst experience in my entire life was when I fell face down while the larger dog was killing Molly. My face hit a large rock and I was bleeding from the forehead. Meanwhile, Molly was screaming at the top of her voice and I was too. No one could hear. I could not get up.

Then Molly suddenly became quiet and I knew she was dead…and she was. It took only three additional minutes.I had to watch her die in her own back yard where she and her little Yorkie friend, Dino, had some great times chasing each other.

The community is very upset and we are going to start efforts to have the attack dog removed from the community. This was not his first attack. In fact it was second against Molly.

I guess every bad happening can have at least a partial good ending. I am more determined than ever to write a book about Miss Molly and dedicated to her. I don’t know how soon I can do this but I am determined. I have already chosen the title:

My Tiny Corner of the World
