MUGGY WEEKEND: No storms on the radar this morning and no flash flood warnings, as opposed to what was going on 24 hours ago. Both the NAM and the GFS hint at a lower coverage of showers and storms across this part of the state today, but with very high PW values (precipitatible water), no doubt we will see showers and storms firing up later today as temperatures reach the low 90s. Looks like today will be the more classic afternoon and evening variety of storms.

OUR WEEKEND: Persistence remains the best forecast. Partly sunny days, highs in the low 90s, and the chance of scattered showers and thunderstorms tomorrow and Sunday. Chance of any one spot getting wet is one in three, and of course, there is no skill in forecasting the exact timing and placement of showers and storms if you are trying to plan something outdoors. Just be aware storms will be out there in scattered spots.

NEXT WEEK: Not much change on Monday, but the GFS continues the idea of drier conditions for North Alabama Tuesday through Thursday as the upper high grows stronger. This, if correct, would also mean higher heat levels with temperatures moving up into the mid 90s. The ridge begins to weaken again toward the end of next week.

TROPICS: Bret is dissipating in the Atlantic between the U.S. coast and Bermuda, and Cindy in the North Atlantic is beginning a non-tropical system. We are watching a wave about 500 miles east of the Leeward Islands that has some potential to develop in coming days, but it will be fighting some pretty dry air around the system initially. See the Weather Xtreme video for more details.

AT THE BEACH: Pretty decent weather; expect about 6 to 8 hours of sunshine each day through Sunday with a few scattered showers and thunderstorms. The high along the immediate coast will be around 90, and the sea water temperatures remain in the mid 80s along the coast from Panama City west to Gulf Shores.
