For The Birds

| July 22, 2011 @ 7:32 am | 10 Replies

More roost rings on the Birmingham radar this morning. Sure seems like these birds like to take off from Lake Millers Ferry on the Alabama River between Camden and Gees Bend, and at a spot on the Tombigbee River near the Mississippi line in West Alabama.

This radar signature (roost ring) occurs as birds leave their roost and fly into the air. The roost ring expands until the birds begin foraging after dispersing.
