Most of the snow is now SE of a line from Gadsden to Hoover to Selma, but we may still fee a few snow showers in BHM this afternoon. Looking at the radar, there is some precipitation in extreme south Alabama, and places like Brewton, Opp, Troy, and Enterprise may see a little snow before this is over.

Spot reports: 5″ in Orrville (Dallas County), 1/2″ in eastern MGM (off Vaughn Rd), 1″ Altadena (Pahokee Trace).

Temperatures are very uniform across Alabama, as you would expect with some snow on the ground. Most locations are between 31 and 34 degrees.

With some icy spots reported on roads already, and most roads wet, be careful driving out there, if you have to drive at all, this afternoon. Skies are starting to clear to our NW, and with northerly winds, expect lows tonight 15 to 20, with temps faling below freezing quickly after sunset. This will allow some of the water now on the roads to freeze, so driving could become very hazardous tonight, and into tomorrow morning.

Jennifer and I headed down to the Warrior River last night around 1030 pm…never seen snow at the river before. I’ll post soon with a few neat pictures and video clips from the heavy sleet showers last night and the snow squall just before we left this morning.
