Warnings/Advisories Lowered

The National Weather Service has lowered all winter weather warnings and advisories issued for North and Central Alabama.

A few snow flurries or a little light snow will continue to taper off through the afternoon hours.

While travel problems because of snowpacked roads are at a minimum, ice will become a problem over night as leftover water on roadways refreezes. Be careful if you must travel tonight, especially on elevated roadways and bridges. Those are usually the first to ice.

Clouds are still thick across the area. Some clearing is beginning over Lamar and Marion Counties into the Northwest corner of the state.

Temperatures are in the 30s and will top out in the upper 30s in most areas.

It will be very cold tonight with clear skies…temperatures will fall into the teens to lower 20s across the area.

Be aware of the threat of frozen pipes. Protect pets and check on people who may be more susceptible to the cold.
