| August 5, 2011 @ 7:53 pm | 2 Replies

For hours, a line of strong thunderstorms slowly moved down across North and Central Alabama. The line of storms has become disorganized. What is left of the leading line was located from near Moundville in North Hale County to along the Tuscaloosa-Bibb County line.

Actually, it has broken up into a large rain area. Several outflow boundaries were triggered by the storms. The main one has moved out ahead and was located from Pell City, down through West Talladega County and then curving westward across South Chilton County to Southeast Perry County. .

Over Northeast Alabama, there was a separate group of thunderstorms. Vic Bell, the 33/40 Skywatcher for Black Creek, on Lookout Mountain, reported very heavy rain, with visibility about 150 yards with wind from the east at 30 with gusts to 40 mph.

Strong gusty winds also occurred in connection with the outflow boundaries.

Huntsville reported 0.66 rain from these storms and Gadsden Airport 0.86
