Brighter Times Ahead

I want to use this blog to thank everyone, well over 1,000, for their condolences and encouragement during the anxious times that followed Molly’s brutal attack and death by a larger neighborhood dog. That happened on June 13.

We could not get a hearing before a judge at Trussville Municipal Court until August 16. (yesterday) to see if someone had the authority to make sure the neighborhood attack dog had to be permanently removed from the community.. That was a wait of 33 days! So I continued the stories in My Tiny Corner of the World.

Meanwhile, Darlene Massie with the Amerex Corp., wrote a touching poem about Molly as if Molly wrote it to us. We posted the poem on the 33/40 Weather Blog which drew a huge number of thanks. However, one person was angered and said that we had turned the blog into “getoverit.com” I thought that was a bit rude.

I received another message last night accusing me of grieving over a dog more than I would in the death of a family member. He suggested that I needed a psychiatrist. Not true. I wish he knew me personally and he would soon discover that I am very strong emotionally. (just ask all the weather people in our group)

Meanwhile, each afternoon, I continued to write stories about Molly, recalling excerpts from stories written in the early years that we had her.. Readers asked for and wanted the stories to continue.

THE COURT HEARING: The judge ruled in our favor. The attack dog will have to be permanently removed from the community by August 30 or a jail term will result.. The dog had attacked four times including twice on Little Miss Molly, the last one fatal. Some of the older folks on our street had become afraid of walking the track.

We expect to get another small puppy soon, another shih-tzu. I want to name him Sir Alex after our grandson.

Thanks so much again to EVERYONE!
