An all new edition of the ABC 33/40 Weather Xtreme video is available in the player on the right sidebar of the blog. You can subscribe to the Weather Xtreme video on iTunes by clicking here.

THIS AFTERNOON: Many spots are back in the low 90s today as expected… Birmingham reports 92 degrees at 2:00… Tuscaloosa is at 90, while Anniston is one of the hotter spots with 93. Nothing on the radar; those illegal morning showers are long gone.

REST OF THE WEEK: Not much change tomorrow and Friday. Highs will be in the 90 to 94 degree range, and we will mention only isolated afternoon showers and storms during the heat of the day.

OUR WEEKEND: Pretty much the same story. Highs in the low to mid 90s, partly sunny days, and the risk of widely scattered afternoon and evening showers and thunderstorms. The chance of any one spot getting wet Saturday and Sunday will be about one in four.

NEXT WEEK: The 12Z GFS has backed off on the strength of the approaching surface boundary, but there still seems to be some chance of an increase in the coverage of showers and storms Monday afternoon or Monday night. And, the new run brings in drier (but not really cooler) air by Tuesday and Wednesday. See the Weather Xtreme video for more details on long range weather.

TROPICS: The tropical wave in the Caribbean southeast of Jamaica has the potential to become Tropical Storm Harvey within the next 24 hours; this one is headed for Central America and is no threat for the Gulf of Mexico.

Out in voodoo land, the 12Z GFS continues to advertise a tropical system in about 7 to 10 days; the latest run keeps it just east of Florida with landfall near Savannah, Georgia. All speculation, of course, but I think we all agree there will be a significant uptick in tropical activity during the last week of the month. Again, see the Weather Xtreme video for details and graphics.
