What a good soaking!
Widespread rain affected Alabama tonight. The rain has spread over to near the Georgia border and into SE Alabama.
By far, the most troublesome weather is a line of thunderstorms that at 8:00 tonight extended from Sylacauga in South Talladega County southward to Rockford, Montgomery, Luverne and Andalusia.
NWS/Birmingham issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Pike County. Further south, a Tornado Watch is in effect for extreme South Alabama and part of NW Florida until 11:00 p.m.
It has been pouring rain tonight across North/Central Alabama. In the NE part of Birmingham, Roebuck received 1.32 inches of rain and it was still raining heavily. A number of other places received over an inch fairly quickly. At 8:00 p.m., it was pouring rain in Winston and Cullman Counties also.
Over on the west side of the state, the rain had tapered off and practically ended in the counties adjacent to the Mississippi border–places like Pickens and Lamar Counties.
