While the area to our east was dealing with the wedge, the effects of that wedge just did not come as far west as I thought it would. So we ended up with a very nice Saturday for football or whatever outdoor activities appealed to you. And it would appear that the wedge effects will be decreasing so we can expect to see another very nice day across Central Alabama with highs mainly in the lower 80s.

The good weather stays with us into Monday, but by late Monday we begin to see some changes to what should be a wetter pattern for several days. In the upper atmosphere, a strong trough will move out of South Central Canada which should push a fairly strong cold front across the Central US. The front will reach the Southeast US but with a moist southwesterly flow aloft, the conditions will be favorable for the development of showers Tuesday and Wednesday. By Thursday with the upper trough continuing to dig into the Ohio Valley, we should see the front finally push through Central Alabama which will bring an end to the showers and bring dryer and cooler air our way.

This paves the way for a lovely weekend with highs near 80 and lows in the 50s.

Rainfall amounts will be varied just because of the nature of the showers. But it seems likely that rainfall amounts for some locations will be between one and one and a half inches.

Storm Prediction Center still maintains a slight risk for storms in Oklahoma and North Texas where there were some storms yesterday.

Tropics still relatively quiet. NHC watching two areas of cloudiness in the far eastern Atlantic, but neither of those areas likely to develop into a tropical storm for the next 48 hours.

As we look further ahead into very late September and early October, the pattern appears to change little with a big ridge just to our west and a trough over the East Coast. This will keep us cool and dry.
