Alabama Weather Update…6:15 p.m.
Here is a late afternoon look at Alabama’s weather…
Get ready for another round of wet weather beginning later tonight and continuing through much of Sunday.
Rainfall will begin to increase tonight along a warm front that will move northward overnight in response to developing low pressure just off the Louisiana coast. Showers should reach Central Alabama after midnight, making it to the Tuscaloosa-Birmingham-Anniston areas before dawn.
Most of the area will get another good rain event, with rainfall amounts averaging one half to one inch with some isolated higher amounts.
As the low passes to our north, a fairly strong cold front will sweep across the area during the afternoon and evening hours. In the warm sector, we will see thunderstorms.
Once again, we will be monitoring the possibility of some strong to severe storms with this system. The best chance will be over South Central Alabama, but storms will be experienced up into the Tuscaloosa-Birmingham-Anniston areas tomorrow.
As always, with these systems, we should expect the unexpected.
Cooler weather will arrive for the breginning of the week. We should stay dry until Thursday, although a passing system late on Tuesday could increase our clouds and perhaps bring a shower to NE sections of the state.
By late in the week, we will be monitoring the development of a potential major rainfall event over the Mississippi Valley that could affect the Deep South by the second half of the weekend and into the first part of the next week. Stay tuned.
