Unconfirmed reports of as many fatalities from the tornadoes that hit Arkansas this afternoon and evening…

KAIT Jonesboro reports three deaths at Harding. They also report 1, perhaps as many as four deaths in Highland.

Another report of seven deaths at Atkins, which is about 40 miles NW of Little Rock on I-40.

Damage is extensive in Jackson, Tennessee, including Union University. Media is reporting 86 injuries including 20-30 Union Students. An ABC3340 Weather Watcher relayed a report from a Jackson firefighter who likened the damage to Hiroshima. He reports fatalities. Damage heavy near downtown.

From a viewer…My daughter attends Union University. She called to say they were being evacuated from their dorms to a new building on campus. She said there is debris all over, damage to dorms, flipped cars, some bleeding students…no power and her cell phone charge was fading. Please pray…

A fatality has been reported near Sommerville, TN.

Across Middle Tennessee…three dangerous supercells…one west of Franklin…will move across southern Nashville near BNA…another about 65 miles WSW of Nashville…tornado warning for Davidson County…

Another near Clarksville.

A powerful squall line is approaching the Mississippi River. Tornado warnings are in effect all along the line.

The line is moving east at 35-40 mph. It is 150 miles west of the Alabama/Mississippi border. If you do the math, you would expect the powerful squall line to reach western sections of Alabama between midnight and 2 a.m.

But, thunderstorms are developing rapidly across North Mississippi ahead of the line. These could become especially dangerous.

Expect tornado watches to be issued late this evening for North and Central Alabama.

It will be a long night…be ready for severe weather overnight…
