An all new edition of the ABC 33/40 Weather Xtreme video is available in the player on the right sidebar of the blog. You can subscribe to the Weather Xtreme video on iTunes by clicking here.

COLD FRONT GETTING CLOSE: Our approaching front early this morning is nearing the Mississippi River; on the west side of the front Fayetteville, AR is down to 39, but on this side Birmingham is at 62 degrees at 5:00.

We will maintain the chance of showers along the front today, but as we have discussed in recent days, rain will be light and spotty. The 00Z NAM is printing only 0.04″ for Birmingham, so don’t get your hopes up for beneficial rain.

COLDER TONIGHT/TOMORROW: The weather turns sharply colder; we will be in the upper 30s early tomorrow, and the high tomorrow afternoon will be only in the mid to upper 50s despite the return of sunshine. A chilly north wind will make it feel cooler.

By Friday morning most places around here will be very close to the freezing mark, then we warm into the upper 50s Friday afternoon with a sunny sky.

WEEKEND WARMING TREND: After a cold start early Saturday with low to mid 30s, we begin to warm up over the weekend. Look for mid 60s Saturday, and a high close to 70 Sunday. No rain over the weekend, although scattered clouds will begin to show up Sunday.

NEXT WEEK: Enough moisture will return for some risk of widely scattered showers Monday and Tuesday, but the next decent chance of showers will come Wednesday with the next front passing through. There could be some thunder, but we don’t expect any severe weather or really heavy rain.

See the Weather Xtreme video for more long range ideas.

SEAN: Our late season tropical storm northeast of the Bahamas is packing sustained winds of around 50 mph this morning, it will take off to the northeast by the weekend, passing just west of Bermuda on the way to the North Atlantic.

BERING SEA STORM: That whopper of a storm moving into western Alaska now has a central pressure of 944 mb. See the video for the graphics… big time wind, rain, snow, and flooding issues up there.

STORM ALERT XTREME: Our annual storm spotter training is coming up on Saturday, November 12 at the BJCC, as part of the Alabama International Auto show. We begin at 9:00, and you will be done at 2:00. And, as a “thank you”, you will get free admission into the car show. There is no cost, and no need to register, just show up. Brian Peters will be the trainer, and we ask all existing and potential Skywatchers to attend. See you there!

WEATHER BRAINS: Don’t forget you can listen to our weekly 90 minute netcast anytime on the web, or on iTunes. This is the show all about weather featuring many familiar voices, including our meteorologists here at ABC 33/40.
