Cooler Air Blows In

COOL CHANGE: This will be a different kind of day… in the wake of the strong to severe storms that moved through our state yesterday, colder air is the story today. Despite a mostly sunny sky, the high will be only in the mid 50s along with a cool north breeze.
Tonight will be cold with a freeze likely by daybreak tomorrow; most places will wind up somewhere between 26 and 33 degrees. Then, a sunny and cool day is likely tomorrow with a high near 60.
WEEKEND WARM-UP: Saturday will feature a partly sunny sky with a high in the mid 60s. Then, expect low 70s Sunday with a mix of sun and clouds. We will mention a slight risk of a shower Sunday afternoon, but most of the weekend will be dry despite a slow increase in low level moisture.
THANKSGIVING WEEK: We are looking at warm weather for most of the week. Mid 70s are likely Monday and Tuesday with only isolated showers; the best chance of rain will be on a stalled surface front north and west of Alabama. Then, the front slips in here Wednesday with a decent chance of showers and possibly a thunderstorm.
Drier air arrives Wednesday night, and for now Thanksgiving Day looks dry and pleasant with a high in the low to mid 60s, which is about average for late November in Alabama.
Black Friday also looks dry, but the latest few runs of the GFS have been advertising a potential severe weather/heavy rain situation for Alabama over the following weekend (11 26-17). See the Weather Xtreme video for details.
