SUNSHINE FOR SHOPPERS: Another beautiful day for Alabama today. We warm from the 30s this morning into the upper 60s this afternoon with a sunny sky. Then, everything changes.
TOMORROW: The sky becomes cloudy tomorrow as moisture levels will increase thanks to a gusty south wind of 10-20 mph. We will mention some risk of afternoon showers, especially over the western half of the state, and the high will be close to 70 degrees.
IRON BOWL FORECAST: The sky in Auburn tomorrow will be mostly cloudy, and the kickoff (2:30 p.m.) temperature at Jordan-Hare Stadium will be close to 66 degrees, falling into the low 60s by the fourth quarter. A gusty south wind averaging 10 to 20 mph could very well be a factor. And, with a rapid increase in low level moisture, we will mention an outside risk of a shower during the game. The chance of a shower at the stadium during the game is only about one in five, and the best chance of rain will be well after the game is over.
TOMORROW NIGHT/SUNDAY: Sure looks like the majority of the rain will come from about 9:00 p.m. tomorrow through 9:00 a.m. Sunday. Rain amounts of about one inch look likely, and thankfully there is no risk of severe weather since there is no surface based instability. Any thunderstorms embedded within the rain will be elevated.
And, as the rain moves out, we turn much colder Sunday with a high only around 50; there is a very real chance we hold in the 40s all day with clouds hanging tough and a very chilly north wind.
EARLY NEXT WEEK: Still the battle of the models. The GFS shows sunny weather Monday and Tuesday with a warming trend; the ECMWF develops a deep upper low right over us, with clouds and some light rain at times both days along with highs only in the 40s. The ECMWF often performs very well in the medium range, and we have to respect that solution… for now we will leave it dry on these days, but not as sunny or as warm as the GFS. Both models have us in sunshine Wednesday. See the Weather Xtreme video for the details.
WEATHER BRAINS: Don’t forget you can listen to our weekly 90 minute netcast anytime on the web, or on iTunes. This is the show all about weather featuring many familiar voices, including our meteorologists here at ABC 33/40.

We are on a holiday schedule so just one video today… but I will post some forecast notes this afternoon. We have football on ABC 33/40 this afternoon, so we will be on the air with newscasts at 6:00 and 10:00 tonight. Brian Peters will have the video updates tomorrow and Sunday, my next one comes bright and early Monday morning. Enjoy the rest of the Thanksgiving weekend!
