1.61 inches of rain at the Birmingham Airport through 4:07 this afternoon.

It has been a slow soaking rain for many folks across North and Central Alabama, and it is going to continue for several more hours.

Some of the heaviest rain is now over Coosa and Elmore Counties in East Alabama. It will lift northeast into Clay, Tallapoosa and Randolph Counties over the next couple of hours.

Looking back in Mississippi, more rain is over East Central Alabama. This will continue pushing into West Central Alabama over the next couple of hours.

The cold front has now passed Tuscaloosa, as evidenced by the northwesterly winds there. It will reach I-65 in a couple of hours. This will signal the beginning of the end for the main rain event.

But the big upper level low will author our weather over the next couple of days, with cold and damp conditions and the possibility of some wintry precipitation for North and Central Monday night into Tuesday morning. Scroll down for more information.
