Dry, Mild Weekend Ahead

An all new edition of the ABC 33/40 Weather Xtreme video is available in the player on the right sidebar of the blog. You can subscribe to the Weather Xtreme video on iTunes by clicking here.

COMFORTABLE AFTERNOONS: Most communities are in the low 60s this afternoon across Alabama with a sunny sky, and we are forecasting highs in the mid 60s both tomorrow and Sunday as the pleasant weather continues into the weekend. While the sky will remain mostly sunny tomorrow, clouds will begin to return Sunday ahead of the next storm system, but the weather stays dry despite the clouds.

NEXT WEEK: The 12Z GFS still suggests the main rain for Alabama will come Monday night into Tuesday, but some rain could move into Northwest Alabama during the day Monday. Due to the slow movement of the front, some heavy rain is likely for places like Florence and Muscle Shoals, where over 4 inches are possible Monday through Tuesday night. Amounts will be lighter to the south and east.

Tuesday still looks like a raw, cold, and wet day with periods of rain and temperatures holding in the 40s all day. The rain should exit the state Wednesday morning, but we stay cloudy and cold with a high in the 40s. The weather Thursday and Friday will be brighter and warmer.

LONG RANGE: Still no signs of any major Arctic outbreak, winter weather threat, or severe weather setup here for the next 15 days as we head down the stretch toward Christmas.

WEATHER BRAINS: Don’t forget you can listen to our weekly 90 minute netcast anytime on the web, or on iTunes. This is the show all about weather featuring many familiar voices, including our meteorologists here at ABC 33/40.
