Midday Nowcast: Mild Final Day of 2024; Colder Weather to Start 2025
Morning clouds have given way to afternoon sunshine across much of Alabama today. Temperatures remain mild with highs today in the low to mid 60s.
ONE MORE MILD DAY: We are starting the day with temperatures around 60 degrees early this morning; a dense fog advisory remains in effect for a decent part of the state. Temperatures reach the low 70s this afternoon in most places.
RADAR CHECK: We have some light rain over North Alabama this afternoon in scattered spots, but the southern half of the state is enjoying a mostly sunny, warm December day. Temperatures range from the mid 60s over the northern counties to the upper 70s over South Alabama.
RADAR CHECK: A batch of showers is moving through East Alabama early this morning, it will be out of the state shortly after sunshine. Much of the day ahead will be dry with just a few isolated showers; temperatures rise into the low 70s in most locations this afternoon with some sun peeking through the clouds.
MILD DECEMBER DAY: Temperatures are in the upper 60s over North Alabama, but we are seeing low to mid 70s over the southern half of the state on this December day. The sun is out in full force across Southeast Alabama, but clouds persist over some of the northern counties.
MILD DECEMBER WEATHER: We are forecasting afternoon highs not far from 70 degrees on a daily basis through Wednesday across Alabama. Most of the state will be dry today, but a few showers are possible over the northern counties tomorrow.
WARMEST DAY OF THE WEEK: We project a high in the 70-75 degree range across Alabama today; it will be the warmest day of the week by far. Expect a partly sunny sky, but clouds will increase late in the day ahead of an approaching cold front.
ON THE MAP: We have a surface front over Tennessee early this morning; we note a few showers south and east of Nashville. Alabama is dry with a clear sky along with temperatures in the 50s. The front will drift down into our state later today, but with hardly any available moisture, we just don’t expect anything but small, isolated showers
MILD MARCH DAY: Temperatures are in the mid 70s across most of Alabama this afternoon; clouds will continue to increase through tonight ahead of a system producing rain over parts of Louisiana and South Mississippi.
