Mild Sunday Afternoon

| December 4, 2011 @ 12:51 pm

I hope that you are getting out and enjoying the mild weather on this early December afternoon.  Mild weather will be the rule for at least one more day before colder weather takes over.

Temperatures at noon across Central Alabama ranged from 64 at Gadsden and 65F at Anniston to 68F at Calera and Birmingham. It was 70F in Jasper and 71F in Tuscaloosa.

The unusually mild readings were courtesy of a strong southeasterly breeze that is pumping mild, moist air up into the state.

Skycams show a mix of sunny to mostly cloudy skies across the region. There was nearly full sun at Parrish and Fayette.

Flood watches extend all the way from Michigan, Indiana and Ohio southwestward to the Arkaltex. Three to five inches of rain is expected across a wide area, with a bullseye over eastern Arkansas.

Showers will reach northwestern Alabama late tonight and spread across the area tomorrow. Rain will continue into tomorrow night, Tuesday night and Wednesday.

Expect more mild weather tomorrow with temperatures again flirting with the 70 degree mark.
