Cool, Dry Weekend Ahead

An all new edition of the ABC 33/40 Weather Xtreme video is available in the player on the right sidebar of the blog. You can subscribe to the Weather Xtreme video on iTunes by clicking here.

THIS AFTERNOON: A band of mid level clouds has moved into Alabama this afternoon ahead of a surface cold front that will pass through our state tonight. The air is very dry near the surface, and we won’t have any precipitation depute the clouds. Temperatures are generally in the low 50s.

OUR WEEKEND: A fresh supply of cool air arrives tomorrow, keeping the weather cool and dry. We expect a high in the 48-51 degree range tomorrow, followed by low to mid 50s Sunday with a good supply of sunshine both days. Sunday morning will be cold with lows ranging from 25 to 31.

NEXT WEEK: Look for a slow warm-up Monday through Wednesday, with highs back in the low 60s by Tuesday and Wednesday afternoon. A weakening cold front will bring a chance of showers by Thursday and Friday, but with the upper support pulling away, looks like only light amounts.

Beyond that, the GFS hints at unsettled weather for Alabama that following weekend and perhaps into the next week as moist air stays in place, and a disturbed southwest flow aloft sets up. And, still no sign of any major shot of really cold air through Christmas. See the Weather Xtreme video for details and ideas.

WEATHER BRAINS: Don’t forget you can listen to our weekly 90 minute netcast anytime on the web, or on iTunes. This is the show all about weather featuring many familiar voices, including our meteorologists here at ABC 33/40.
