A Nice Wetting Down

| December 16, 2011 @ 11:50 am

In the last 18 hours or so, about one-third of Northwest Alabama has received some beneficial rain. This is because band after band of showers moved from southwest to northeast across the north and northwest pf the state. We call this training.

However, just before noon the showers shifted enough to the east that the northwest part of the state is getting a break because of a cold front advancing into the area from the northwest.

Here is a selection of rain amounts ending around 6 or 7 o’clock this morning:

0.95 Muscle Shoals Airport

0.70 Cullman Ag Station

0.57 Guntersville

0.64 Muscle Shoals TVA

0.38 Huntsville

0.65 Russellvile Airport

0.82 Scottsboro

.0.98 Addison (East Winston County)

0.61 Dora

0.47 Hamilton

0.55 Cordova

0.19 Oak Grove (west edge of Jefferson County)

0.75 Sayre

1.04 Bankhead Lock and Dam
