All Warnings Canceled

| December 22, 2011 @ 12:26 pm

The NWS has canceled all the tornado warnings now.

The tornado watch has been canceled for Fayette, Tuscaloosa and Walker Counties.

Strong storms continue now from Brookwood to Coaling and Moundville in Tuscaloosa and Hale Counties then to near Greensboro.

They are moving northeast at 50-60 mph. They will affect areas from Centerville to West Blocton to North Johns and then on to areas from Montevallo to Birmingham within the next hour. They could produce damaging winds and an isolated small tornado is not out of the question, just not likely.

Once this kink in the wave moves by, the threat for the I-20 corridor will diminish. Birmingham should get an all clear by 2 p.m., Pell City to Clanton by 3 p.m. and Anniston to Montgomery by 4 p.m. or so.

The tornado watch continues until 5 p.m. The chance for severe weather will be over South Central and East Central Alabama, south of I-20 and east of a line from Coaling to Greensboro to Thomasville. The best chance for a tornado will be mainly south of Bibb, Shelby, Talladega, Clay and Randolph Counties.
