The Worst is Over

| January 17, 2012 @ 9:09 pm

At 9 o’clock tonight, most of the northwest half of Alabama can relax because most of the thunderstorms have shifted to East and South Alabama.

At 9 pm, the line of thunderstorms extended Marion, in Perry County, northeast across Chilton County, then along the Talladega/Clay County line to east of Anniston.

Moving steady toward the east.

Lightning activity has diminished greatly.

However, lots of lightning popping in a far south line of intense thunderstorms that extends from New Orleans east along the Mississippi Coast to the Mobile area and Extreme South Alabama.

(Cooler) (colder) air nowpushing into Northwest Alabama. At 9 pmit was in the 60s from Birmingham south but it was a chilly 46 in Haleyville and 49 in Muscle Shoals with a brisk northwest wind.

This is the forerunner for some very nice weather for our area during the next few days, although some cold nights belowfreezing.
