Cold Change For The Weekend

| February 9, 2012 @ 2:11 pm

**No afternoon Weather Xtreme video today due to travel**

QUICK NOTES: Have to make this pretty quick as we are about to board AirLink 33/40 for the trip to Phil Campbell for tonight’s Storm Alert 2012 show at Northwest-Shoals Community College (we begin at 6:30… hope to see many of you from Northwest Alabama there).

COLD WEEKEND AHEAD: Clouds will increase across Alabama tomorrow ahead of the next cold front, and we will maintain the chance of a few sprinkles or patches of light rain tomorrow night. Moisture is very limited, and rain amounts, if any, will be very light and spotty…

Latest guidance is coming in colder for the weekend. It now looks like the high both Saturday and Sunday will be somewhere between 42 and 45 degrees, with a low Sunday morning very close to 20. Teens are likely at daybreak Sunday for the colder valleys.

And, the latest RPM is still suggesting a risk of light snow flurries across the northern third of Alabama Saturday morning… below is the output valid at 8:00 a.m. CST…

NEXT WEEK: Not much overall change in the thinking for next week. The weather turns warmer, and we will have one round of showers Monday night and Tuesday, followed by a chance of strong thunderstorms by Thursday. Way too early to determine if severe weather will be an issue, but something to keep an eye on.

WEATHER BRAINS: Don’t forget you can listen to our weekly 90 minute netcast anytime on the web, or on iTunes. This is the show all about weather featuring many familiar voices, including our meteorologists here at ABC 33/40.

I had a great time today speaking to the 6th graders at Irondale Middle School, and speaking at today’s meeting of the Alabama Self Storage Association at Barber Motorsports Park. Now… it is on to Phil Campbell for Storm Alert 2012. Look for the next Weather Xtreme video here by 7:00 a.m. tomorrow…
