Dreary Morning

| February 19, 2012 @ 6:45 am

It’s a dreary morning across Alabama as the low pressure trough that brought Saturday’s rains to the state pushes through the Arklamiss (Arkansas, Louisiana and Mississippi).

Last nights rain and storms are already in the Atlantic.

As expected, a large mass of light rain covers the northern third of Alabama, becoming more scattered down into Central Alabama.

The blustery winds have not really materialized as the low is not as strong as we thought it might be.  It is escaping into Georgia this morning.   Our winds will shift around to northeast and then north during the day as the low pushes northeast.  This flow will bring in cooler air, keeping our temperatures about where they are (in the upper 40s to lower 50s) or even allowing them to fall back a bit during the morning.

There is a little fog outside the rain areas, but visbilities across Central Alabama are not too bad.

We will reach freezing tonight as skies clear and those winds relax.

Brian will be along with the full forecast discussion and video shortly. Have a great Sunday!
