Upper Air Look

This is the new upper air sounding just in from the Shelby County Airport…

As you can see the atmosphere remains strongly capped with a good bit of convective inhibition, thus the reason for the quiet radars tonight.

We also note that other severe weather parameters are rather unimpressive. But, the atmosphere can, and will change from hour to hour, and we still have some risk of severe weather tonight after 9:00.

We note SPC has pulled the “slight risk” back down into South Alabama, where instability values are greater.

We will continue to watch the radar with interest to see if, and when it lights up….
