Record Tied for Birmingham

| March 15, 2012 @ 9:41 pm

In case you haven’t noticed, summer has arrived quite early for Central Alabama. The high temperature this afternoon at the Birmingham Shuttlesworth International Airport was 84 degrees which ties the old record of 84 set in 1984.

Other highs across Alabama today included:

87 Evergreen and Dothan
86 Helena
85 Huntsville (new record breaking the old one of 82)
85 Montgomery, Muscle Shoals, Tuscaloosa, Troy, and Pinson
84 Birmingham, Decatur, and Mobile
83 Anniston, Calera, and Brookley Field (Mobile)
81 Auburn

I’ve been asked a lot lately if a hot March means we are in for a hot summer. My answer is that summer is always hot in Alabama along with the high humidity. But to my knowledge a warm March does not necessarily correlate with an extremely hot summer.
