Strong storms continue this afternoon from south of Talladega to west of Dadeville to east of Montgomery to Evergreen.

The severe thunderstorm watch for Autauga, Barbour, Bullock, Chambers, Chilton, Coosa, Dallas, Elmore, Lee, Lowndes, Macon, Montgomery, Pike, Russell, Shelby, Talladega, Tallapoosa [AL] till 5:00 PM CDT.

Bibb, Marengo and Perry Counties were just cleared from the watch.

A new severe thunderstorm watch was just issued for the Tennessee Valley of North Alabama. You can see all of the watches in the lower left panel of the graphic shown above.

You can see the upper low over Arkansas. Drier air aloft has worked in over eastern Arkansas, western Tennessee and northern Mississippi. The clearing skies and colder air aloft will allow for more storms to develop late this afternoon. You can see cumulus clouds over northwestern Mississippi and some storms near and south of Memphis. This is associated with this instability. Some of these storms will be severe late today and this evening in Alabama with large hail as the main threat.

All of the storms will end by midnight.

We may have to issue a slight risk for perfect weather for Friday for Central Alabama with sunshine, mild temperatures, but a refreshing north breeze and low humidity. There is a good chance we will have a high risk for perfect weather for Saturday and Sunday!

A few severe weather reports:
…Tree limbs down 1140 a.m. exit 219 on I-65 in Chilton County. Winds gusted to 50 mph.
…4 NNE Uniontown in Perry County…several trees down 183/Buster Sealy Rd.
