HIGHS HOLD IN THE 80s: No doubt our brief late April cold snap is long gone. Looks like we will have highs in the low to mid 80s for the next 7 days as an upper ridge builds across the Deep South.

Interesting to note SPC has included the far northern part of Alabama in a “slight risk” of severe weather later today and tonight, due to a weak surface front over Tennessee. Most of the showers and storms should stay north of our state, but if any storms do drift down into the Tennessee Valley of extreme North Alabama, the risk would be from hail and gusty winds.

Down this way (the I-20/59 corridor), showers are very unlikely; they will be very widely spaced and mainly to the north.

TOMORROW THROUGH SUNDAY: No real change. The upper ridge will bring mostly dry and warm weather. I really don’t see any need to mention any risk of showers on these three days with highs in the mid 80s. Some late night and early morning stratus clouds could develop due to good low level moisture, but the days will be partly sunny once those clouds burn off.

NEXT WEEK: The pattern still remains quiet. Highs in the low to mid 80s; partly sunny days and fair nights. There might be a shower or two on radar from time to time, but they will remain widely scattered and we don’t expect any widespread rain. And, no sign of any severe weather issues for the next 15 days. See the Weather Xtreme video for the graphics and details.
