From The Road…

I have pulled over for a few minutes on the way to Good Hope to look at a hodgepodge of weather data…

You have to impressed with developments to the west; as I always say during any snow threat there comes a time when you have to quit staring at model output and simply look out the window.

How about this report from the NWS in Little Rock (from their Im conference)…

“Just got this from the Arkansas Department of Emergency Management: County Judge in Scott County is declaring a disaster. Widespread power outages in the county. At one point last night, most of the county was without power. Some people will be without power for 4 to 5 days. No state highways are blocked by fallen power lines, but numerous county roads are.”

No, that won’t happen here, but with such dynamic forcing in play, you have to a little concerned about convective snow here in Alabama late tonight. There is actually some decent MLCAPE values showing up in response to the very cold air aloft. So, we might be inclined to bump up the snow accumulation figures on the afternoon update.

I will speak with the kids up here in Good Hope, then be back in the weather office by early afternoon, and the long discussion should be up 3:00 or so. J.B. will keep the blog fresh!
