Alabama Weather Update at 5 am

Showers and some thunderstorms continued overnight but they went “downhill” (weakened) At 5 am only a few thunderstorms were still in progress in Central Alabama between Montgomery and Birmingham. However, almost no lightning.

Over North Alabama, showers were more widespread from Huntsville westward to the Mississippi border. however, they were not very heavy.

Today is the big day for widespread beneficial rain for a state (Alabama) that really needs it. Showers and thunderstorms will become widespread as the day progresses.

We will post some rain amounts later this morning. Surely the Mobile area will win the prize. They probably received over seven inches since yesterday!
