Showers down, Temperature Up

| May 5, 2012 @ 11:22 am

The large cluster of thunderstorms over Middle Tennessee earlier this morning resulted in a thin line of showers that moved through the eastern sections of the Tennessee River Valley. However, while progressing east and south the showers have diminished significantly until we have a lone shower over Rainbow City in Etowah County.

Temperatures have climbed steadily with a good supply of sun reaching the lower 80s across Central Alabama just after 11 am. Clouds across South Alabama have held temperatures down a little with readings there in the upper 70s. The clouds and light rain have also held down temperatures in North Alabama to the upper 70s.

Still looks like a summer-ishly warm day as highs approach 90 across Central Alabama. The abundant moisture along with the boundary from the morning storms will make Central Alabama ripe for additional thunderstorms to develop wit 2h the heat of the afternoon. Primary time is likely to be between 2 pm and 8 pm.
